Utah has spectacular natural, recreation, cultural and heritage resources. In recognition of these world-class amenities and their importance to the economies and lifestyles of communities across the state, Governor Jon Huntsman Jr. has asked the Outdoor Recreation Task Force, working with public input, to identify Utah 's premier outdoor recreation destinations and natural assets.

Identification of specific sites and valuable areas or assets will allow the Task Force to assess needs or conflicts and recommend protection and management strategies, maximizing the benefits for the people of Utah and our visitors.

Working in collaboration with the local communities, the state, and resource management agencies, the Task Force will address the more “global” concerns related to promoting recreation and individual sites; recognizing and maximizing the economic benefits from Utah's recreation and natural assets; and mitigating recreation or tourism impacts.

With identification, proper management and promotion, the resources and recreation will benefit, communities will thrive, and everyone will be able to enjoy these destinations for generations to come.
